A study conducted by the Department of Prosthodontics (Dusseldorf University Hospital) has evaluated the scientific evidence, the indication spectrum and the mechanical properties of lithium disilicate – the material that makes up IPS e.max CAD and IPS e.max Press.

The study shows that high-strength lithium disilicate glass-ceramics  used in conjunction with the adhesive technique have caused a paradigm shift in fixed denture prosthetics. Minimally invasive treatment protocols can now be predictably implemented.

Time-saving and cost-efficient treatment options

Monolithic applications of the material in combination with CAD/CAM techniques in particular allow patients to be treated with implant-supported dentures quickly, efficiently and at affordable costs. The detailed results of the study have been published.(1)
